Peb Cov Hmoob (Karma)

For our lost to people

Roots of My Mother's Life (Victoria Vang)

Over
The land and sea
And back to the roots
Of my mother’s life

I have a dream
That we
Can free those in need

Cuz there is something
We all can do
And it lies beneath the skin
There is something
We face the truth
And we fight till we have won

In the times when children cried
And the times when the fathers
Can no longer fight
They put their hands in the air
In the pouring night*
My dream
That we
Can free those in need

There is something we all can do
And it lies beneath the skin
There is something we face the truth
And we fight till we have won
Till we have won
Till we have won

Fallen (TransitLife)

We live in this life
Where dreams are far away
And darkness in the rain We dream upon the stars
We’re standing here alone
When will I be home?

And I believe it’s fate
To be standing here
Alone in fear

And I believe you’re here
For more than what you love
This will within the stars*

Shadows paint the ground
There’s nothing left but sorrow
Is there something left to sing about it

Dreams are wasted
Mirrors full of faces
Our dreams gone away

I sing remember
Shadow in the star
Can I ask what’s all this war?*

I’m here waiting
Your smile’s all I need
To die in happiness*

And I believe it’s fate
To be standing here
Alone in fear

And I believe you’re here
For more than what you love
This will within the stars

Shadows paint the ground
There’s nothing left but sorrow
Is there something left to sing about it

Dreams are wasted
Mirrors full of faces
Our dreams gone

When I’m down
When I’m weak
I sing again
Your end to me

I believe it is fate
To be standing

Shadows paint the ground
There’s nothing left but sorrow
Is there something left to sing about it

Dreams are wasted
Mirrors full of faces
Our dreams gone away

Our dreams gone away
Our dreams gone away

I Wish I Was An Angel (Yangmee Lor)

Your heart wonders if we’re gonna make it through
Torn apart from the land that loves you
Running from your fears every day
Wishing, hoping that there will be a place to stay Crying to sleep every single night
You’re a star, hope and faith inside
So many years has gone past
Your pain and sufferings will sure to last

I wish I was an angel by your side
To hold you close, to wipe your eyes
I’ll put you on my wings and sneak you far away
If I was, if I was angel by your side

Hundreds of years and we’d always been alone
How we’ve long for a place to call home
Even though the war was lost and over
Our people was still being killed all over

I wish I was an angel by your side
To hold you close, to wipe your eyes
I’ll put you on my wings and sneak you far away
If I was, if I was angel by your side

There is an angel by your side
Holding you close, wiping your eyes
She’s got you in her arms tonight
There is an angel by your side
There is an angel by your side

Third World Poetry (Ill Ego Aliens)

"Who knows what evil lurks in the heart of men?"

Universe collide
Suicide thoughts survive
Revival of the fittest
Survival of the shittiest
Giving this species another taste of the species
Pieces of the puzzle demand the sunshine
Plus seasons change and leaves a passion in landmine
If mankind reaches for any signs of peace
Given what they got the living truth release yo
Pitching in the pot collecting for the deceased now
See them overseas see them go into war
See they got their reasons see them dying for
Their own personal freedom you got yours
It's a crying shame
it's a crying game
It's a no-win situation and everyone's a loser
While we wait here patiently given bruises and bullets
I'm ready to pull the plug fix this nation here
Fix this facial expression God is what you're here for
The next killer to penetrate
innocents are proven guilty
Yet we kill these children of the world
Turning the children of war
Life based on the movie that's rated R
So we got to kill these kids
So their wings doesn't soar*

"Make fall"*

Throats kicked and cut skulls penetrated daily
You almost given up on this life haven't yous
Haven't yall bother right side to make humanity right*
I took my family your flat at night without a light
The best way to keep alive
It ain't no curfew no five
Always saw about to flood alive *
The gat that's carrying survival
We keep on shedding tears for the families that didn't make it
But now it's time to move on
Cuz when it's on to the crickets all you can't sleep
Every second danger creeps around your peeps
Sleep the wife and kids at the village while I'm out
Early in the morning with my cousins
Forward we to handle worldwide beef
Only twenty one year that * half what I believe
Knowing that there will be no peace
So fuck the world cuz the world don't give a fuck
Young kids grouping up fast holding it up strapped where they came*
Widows picking up their automatic taking their husbands place
Winning these battles means women side of control for the time we exist
Living harsh in this third world paradise
Just to be precise
I've seen the truth
Extermination of the youth
Bodies *here related* bad enough to make a grown man puke
It's just a pity I'm forced to do the same thing too
Young babies getting fed morphine
That the river crossing
But are you one of them?
Just wondering
Platforms they thundering rumbling day and night
Drive bys ain't nothing to these ears
Strikes carry on

War Don't End (Power Struggle)

The war didn’t end when Saigon fell
The CIA’s got a story to tell
Bout the secret army from the mountains of Laos
And the people were promised that we’ll get them out

They got so poor didn’t foresee
The communist party claiming victory
Hired guns now run for the hills
They run and since day one survivor skills

Kicked out of china for holding on to culture
While the tourists brought in borders and hang em by their sofas*
Haven’t you looked at the tapestry
AK47s in the hands of the peasants

An old Hmong man wears American flag
Gets no respect as Americans laughed
At his language and his anguish his ability to grow through
From Fresno to Frogtown Eau Claire and back down

The war didn’t end when Saigon fell
The CIA’s got a story to tell
Bout the secret army from the mountains of Laos
And the people were promised that we’ll get them out

After the war the immigrants came
Blood on they hands and nothing in they veins
Some had dreams, others made cash
Most stayed poor, some formed gangs

You speak so well then you’re good at math
The children go through another culture clash
But that ain’t the problem this is the issue
Your people back home are kissing the pistol

Dying by your missile, toxic and vicious
Females get raped, broken like dishes
Soldier: our lowest of human kind
They’ll kill at will behind closed eyes

The Hmong in the jungles
The Hmong in the mountains run like lions behind them
Like lions huntin
But while running they dying and mothers are crying “Genocide!”

Do something

Do

The war didn’t end when Saigon fell
The CIA’s got a story to tell
Bout the secret army from the mountains of Laos
And the people were promised that we’ll get them out

The war didn’t end when Saigon fell
The CIA’s got a story to tell
Bout the secret army from the mountains of Laos
And the people were promised that we’ll get them out

I said the war didn’t end when Saigon fell
The CIA’s got a story to tell
Bout the secret army from the mountains of Laos
And the people were promised that we’ll get them out

I said the war didn’t end when Saigon fell
The CIA’s got a story to tell
Bout the secret army from the mountains of Laos
And the people were promised that we’ll get them out

Pitiful Amnesty (F.I.R.E.)

My people fall and fall and fall
Watch me fall and fall and fall
Into hell

Watch me fall into the deepest pits of hell
Where the air is razor sharp slicing cells in the process of meiosis
Listen to my people’s screech for help
Slowly penetrating deep within their graves
Bloodcurdling screams injects life back into my ancestors
Long deceased

Sleep disturbed by the genocide occurring in your world
Just on the other side of the globe
Worlds collide from the dark tops of deceptions
We find ethnic cleansing within the jungles of deceit

The government refuses to lend a hand
Afraid to intervene but intervene they did thirty years ago
This supposed to be the land of opportunities
Do your part

That’s why I exposed myself to my people
Hmong people
I’m trying to show the globe to the kids
The 300,000 souls paranoid
Fear embedded* into their states of norm
Survive
The one thing constantly on their mind
Gunshots, blast!
Run! Duck! Hide!
What if that was my son at the other end of that gun?
Paranoid
My only son gone
Hearts molested, souls raped, left with untold stories, unknown heartaches
Strung together with cloth, rainbow color strings on neezo*

Watch, watch, watch me, watch me fall
Watch me fall, watch me fall
Into hell

As you soak yourself daily with unncessary accessories
My people, your people, our people
Are still waiting for us to save them
A forgotten tribe crushed by American ties
To the last roots American collaborators must be uproot
The final act of our war supposedly ended in ’73
Now the last chapter is unfolding
Completely surrounded, this time America can finally put them in their history

We say, “It hurts too much to think about then”
But stop, think, then is not for them
We were the lucky ones swam across the river
We were born between borders, between east and west, between rice fields and skyscrapers
Made it to America, made it to America
More educated than ever, got doctors, lawyers
And people on the senate so don’t even say that nothing can be done
Look around and see what the Hmong have become

It’s time for you to Speak! Kick! Scream!
And never stop until the government replies to our pleas
This is real, this is now
As you sit and listen to the prose* I’m spitting out
This another Holocaust happening in Laos
Kids left with burns, malnutrition, and shrapnose
It’s time to speak out, our people are dying
Say it loud, and say it proud

Like powers before me I call for a revolution
A revolution, a revo, a revo, a revolution
Again
A revo, a revo, a revolution
Say it with me now
A revo, a revo, a revolution
One more time
A revo, a revo, a revolution

You may say this ain’t your fight
But when life pulls you down and your people ain’t around
Who’s gonna be there to lift you up?
When life blinds you and you can no longer see
Who’s gonna lead you down that path of cultural tranquility?
That path of endless possibility, no one

Inaccessible jungle, unbearable struggle
Still carrying the burden of grandparents, parents and uncles
They bow for the destiny they used to receive
Still bleeding for American loyalties
Simply hoping for pitiful amnesty
Freedom, schools, and democracy
Eventually to die food scarcities
On death it seems nobody has a monopoly
This is truth, this is life
All we got is one another
We need to get together, stick together, love each other

I call for a revolution, a revolution
A revo, a revo, a revolution
Again
A revo, a revo, a revolution
Say it with me
A revo, a revo, a revolution
One more time
A revo, a revo, a revolution

Watch Over Me (Watching Leona)

What lullabies do they sing before they go to sleep
What does tomorrow bring I hear my mother weeping
Forgotten soldiers stay awake although their eyes are closed
They watch the sky, watch the sky and sing their lullabies
There’s more to life than this, they promised me
There’s more to life than this

Someone watch over me, help me find paradise
Angels watch over me, help me find paradise
Someone watch over me, help me find paradise
Angels watch over me, help me find paradise

What sort of dreams do they dream when they go to sleep
The daily life of kings and queens they never will go hungry
But Im a servant at your feet from across the scene
You watch me cry, watch me cry as I die
A thousand ghosts bow down, down to their knees
Someday you will be free

Someone watch over me, help me find paradise
Angels watch over me, help me find paradise
Someone watch over me, help me find paradise
Angels watch over me, help me find paradise

(I want to save my brother) Someone watch over me
(I want to be our savior) Help me find paradise
(I want to find a way) Angels watch over me
(To justify your journey) Help me find paradise

(I want to be your shadow) Someone watch over me
(Just to feel the honor) Help me find paradise
(Just to be a hero) Angels watch over me
(For my dying culture) Help me find paradise
Paradise

30 Year Secret (Delicious Venom)

Thirty years of war
Persecuted and scorned
Behind enemy lines
A small child is born

What will he live for
Fighting for the rest of his life
Gunshots, chemical bombs
Or sliced with a knife

Shrapnel within flesh
Children poisoned to death
Defend the villages
Soldiers killed in combat

A contract that's been cracked
Splitt up and attacked
With no tracks
And they only fight back

For survival reasons
And they wish to the sky
For the will to keep breathing
The jungles are a prison
Scarred into our visions
Now I want you to listen
'Cause our people have risen

Starving for any meal
They kept it concealed
Their blood spills
All over the rice fields
For real

A tragic massacre
Of tears and emotions
That can flood
The Mekong River
To be an ocean
Our people are suffering
And time is running out

I see my mother working late again
Father holding paper tens
Drama on the corner
We ignore but we relate to them

Stay within the circle
Representin every state we in
Penetrate the system
Now the prison wants to take us in

Listen to my elder folks
Cousin loves to sell his smoke
Sister's in the kitchen
Cooking breakfast to the smell of smoke

Flea market weekends
Sleepin sixty minutes to two hours
Been working overtime
Ain't had no time to take a shower

Family business slow
Still on the go
Blow for blow we slug it out
Against the winter and snow

Ever since existence
We have been survivors
Neglected
Never claimed a country
Just wanted to live and let live

Now its been thirty years
Since imprisonment in the jungle
For the Hmong
Remind your elders
And educate the young

Laotian government, genocide
Human rights and violation
Clock is running down
To total annihilation
Lift a finger now
Stop procrastinating

Save a child save a mother
Throw your clock and watch away
The time is now

Stop searching for time
Time is running out
Stop searching for time
The time is now

Don't let our people die
Save our people
Save our people
Go listen to their cries
Voices of sorrow,

Another dying relative
Sleeping life away like a sedative
Death is interactive
Don't it make you feel relative
Children feeling negative

Repetitive survival mode
Spirits from the old
Neglected perspective grows
If we let it
The mind stays infected so
Memories repress it
Mothers' fetuses die
Hold your chin high
Let the wind dry your eyes
Here we go

Levitate, aggravate, penetrate
Let 'em hate
Escalate what you know
Mental state gotta grow
System teach you to fear
Being bold
Hmong people on the go
Dying slow so

Do the math with me
Subtract morality
add fatality
Divide broken pride
Equals America lied

Tears blur our visions
So we listen to the violence
She could be the silence
Or the sirens

Divide in corner streets
Fight for the air we breathe
Tears we see
Families we grieve
This is disgusting

Must it
Wipe a life or two
Fallen soldiers yesterday's news
Father's in the grave
Nobody left to fill his shoes

Wake up to gun shots
Silence is just a dream
Wake up to gun shots
Silence is just a dream

Wake up to gun shots
Silence is just a dream
Wake up to gun shots
Silence is just a dream
